7 Ways to Celebrate National Cat Day

Did you know that October 29th is a very special day for kitties? It’s National Cat Day! Of course, as far as Fluffy is concerned, every day is National Cat Day. Even so, this is a great time to pamper your pet a bit, and score some extra purrs. Here, a Minnetonka, MN vet offers tips on celebrating National Cat Day.

Treats

Treat your feline buddy to a special snack. Some good options are canned tuna or chicken in water; cooked, boneless fish or poultry with the skin and fat removed; cat milk; or deli meat. You can also get Fluffy her favorite store-bought treats.

Kitty Furniture

If you really want to pamper your cat, get her a piece of kitty furniture. Cat towers are always a wonderful choice. Fluffy may also enjoy a pet tent or a kitty tipi. Of course, you can’t go wrong with buying your furball a comfy new bed. As far as our feline friends are concerned, you just can’t have too many sleeping spots!

Playtime

At the end of the day, Fluffy just wants to feel loved, safe, and content. Spend some time playing with your pet on her special day. Use a toy that you can control, like a fuzzy mouse on a wand or a laser pointer. This will benefit your kitty both physically and mentally!

Veterinary Care

While coming to see us probably wouldn’t be Fluffy’s favorite way to spend a few hours, proper veterinary care is very important to her health and well-being. If your furball is overdue for an appointment, let this be a reminder to schedule one ASAP.

Toys

Offer your furball a new plaything to pounce on. Classic toys, like catnip mice, are fine, but you can also activate the purr with some more modern options, such as robotic mice, automated laser pointers, or catnip bubbles.

Photos

Take a few minutes to get some adorable photos of your furry friend. There’s no such thing as too many cute cat pictures!

Love

Pay lots of attention to Fluffy on her special day. Talk to her, pet her, groom her, and let her curl up on your lap if she wants. Time spent with cats is never wasted!
