Mara’s interest in the Veterinary field started at a young age while going to vet visits with the family dog, Tucker. She had a great deal of interest in trying to determine what was wrong with her pet and was fascinated by the process. Her path toward a career in Veterinary Medicine started at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN where she majored in biology with the goal to become a Veterinarian. After some thought, however, she opted for a career as a Veterinary Technician and transferred to North Dakota State University where she received her Bachelor’s of Science in Veterinary Technology in 2015. After graduation, Mara worked for a corporate Veterinary clinic for two years before coming to Golden Valley and Greenbrier Animal Hospitals in the fall of 2017.
Prior to starting her career as a Veterinary Technician, Mara spent her summers volunteering at the University of Minnesota Veterinary Rehabilitation Center. There she assisted the Veterinarians and Technicians with laser therapy, underwater treadmills and other physical rehab treatments. Mara has a special interest in animal rehab and is working on becoming board certified in that specialty in the near future.
Mara grew up in Eagan, MN but now resides in St. Louis Park with her boyfriend. Her black Lab, Leo currently lives with her parents, but she enjoys taking him for walks and going hunting with him whenever she gets that chance. Mara has an affinity for the outdoors and loves hiking through the state parks Minnesota has to offer, but also loves her time indoors where she enjoys cooking, playing games and spending time with family and friends.
