What is Veterinary Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is the method of inserting needles into specific points on the body to produce a healing response. It has been in use in China for thousands of years and is widely used throughout the world today to treat many ailments. While acupuncture cannot cure every illness, it can have a very positive effect on many different conditions.

What conditions can acupuncture be used to treat?

Below is a list of some of the common conditions acupuncture can be used for:

Musculoskeletal conditions such as arthritis, nerve injury or intervertebral disc disease.
Feline asthma and other respiratory ailments
Allergic dermatitis (skin allergies)
Gastrointestinal conditions such as diarrhea

Is Veterinary Acupuncture safe for my pet?

Acupuncture is considered one of the safest forms of medical treatments for pets when administered by a properly trained veterinarian. The insertion of the needles is virtually painless and treatments can safely be combined with most conventional or “Western” therapies.
