Dr. Jacobson learned at a young age how important it was to have love and respect for all animals. It’s what led her down the path to becoming a Veterinarian where she could continue to educate pet owners about preventive medicine to keep their pets healthy and keep their bond with them strong.
Dr. Jacobson grew up in Rutland, North Dakota with her parents and four brothers. She attended Iowa State University for both her undergraduate and Veterinary degree. It was during Veterinary school that Dr. Jacobson was able to experience how rewarding this career could be. She worked round the clock to treat and rehabilitate an ill pet for several days. When the dog was finally well enough to go home, he raced to the owner’s car and jumped in as soon as he saw it; something he had been unable to do when his treatment began. The look on the owner’s faces made everything she had done for him worthwhile. She also discovered her passion for surgery, reproductive medicine and exotic care and has traveled to several different countries to hone those skills and learn more about wildlife as well as exotic pets.
After working in a corporate Veterinary Hospital for several years, she decided it was time to look for a clinic that could become home for her, which is what brought her to Golden Valley and Greenbrier Animal Hospitals in December 2018.
A self-proclaimed adrenaline junkie, Dr. Jacobson has sky dived, zip-lined, dived with Great White sharks, scuba dived on the Great Barrier Reef, repelled waterfalls, and bungee jumped off the tallest bungee bridge in the world. In between the adrenaline rushes, Dr. Jacobson enjoys singing, biking, glassblowing, traveling and just spending time with her boyfriend and two cats, Salem and Arctic.
