Amanda never had a doubt that helping animals was what she wanted to do with her life. Growing up in Upstate New York, she had pets of all varieties; from dogs and cats to birds and snakes. Feeling the unconditional love that animals give us made her want to help them when they could not help themselves. She started her education at the State University of New York at Adirondack before moving on to USNY at Delhi where she completed their Veterinary Science program. She completed the program in the spring of 2020 before moving to Minnesota to be working at Golden Valley and Greenbrier Animal Hospitals.
Amanda began her Veterinary career as a kennel attendant at an animal hospital near her New York home. During her three years at that clinic, she saw many pets come in sick and go home well, but one patient in particular stuck with her. A dog came in that couldn’t walk, but with several days of hospitalization and a lot of TLC, he left the hospital by walking out on his own. Having watched the hard work and love that the Veterinary staff put into that patient, Amanda knew she was on the right path.
In addition to Veterinary Medicine, Amanda has a passion for music and photography. While in New York, Amanda showed and sold several of her photographs. She’s also won several contests for her piano compositions and had one of her photographs displayed as a permanent piece at her high school! She shares her Minnesota home with her boyfriend, Austin, two dogs, Skittles the Chihuahua Pomeranian mix and German Shepherd, Isis, who is named after the Egyptian goddess, Crested Gecko, Shira named after another goddess, and two goldfish Onyx (who is all black) and Citrine (who is orange and white) and are named after crystals. Skittles loves to sleep all day long and get overly excited about mealtime. Isis loves hiking and playing in the snow. She will sprint through the snow while simultaneously shoveling it into her mouth and eating it. Amanda loves spending time outdoors hiking, kayaking, and collecting geodes and crystals.
