When Lia was younger, her mother had an alpaca herd in Northwest Ohio. She spent her Summers helping to care for the alpacas and the barn cats that lived there. Lia would bring the cats to get spayed/neutered at the local shelter, and she began to volunteer there as well. She took care of dogs, cats, pigs, goats, and horses, and after watching the technician perform tasks, she knew she wanted to become a veterinary technician! After deciding this, Lia went to North Dakota State University and attended their 4 year Bachelor’s Program for Veterinary Technology. She graduated in the Spring of 2021, and then came to work for our practice in January 2022!

As a veterinary technician, some of Lia’s favorite tasks include dental cleaning, assisting in surgery, microscopic analysis, taking radiographs, vaccinating patients, and performing blood draws. Lia also loves how dedicated our team is, and enjoys that each day is completely different! She also likes learning tons of new things from our doctors.

Lia also has two cats, Porter and Wonton. Porter is a sassy two-year-old who came from a friend’s farm in North Dakota, and Wonton is a white cat with a grey mohawk that was rescued from a surrender situation. Lia also loves senior dogs, and is hoping to foster some someday!

Outside of work, Lia enjoys bouldering (rock climbing without ropes/harness), going to music concerts, kayaking, hiking, and yoga.
